Stella - Atari 2600 VCS Emulator

Stella is a multi-platform Atari 2600 VCS emulator released under the GNU General Public License (GPL), originally developed for Linux by Bradford W. Mott.

The Atari 2600 Video Console System was one of the longest-selling home video game consoles in history. Released in 1977, the project (codenamed 'Stella') had consumed 100 million dollars in development costs! Compared to most home consoles at the time, the 2600's ability to play games stored on cartridge ROMs was a technical and marketing breakthrough, as it provided consumers with an ever expanding selection of game titles while generating a continuous stream of revenue for Atari.

To those of us old enough to remember seeing the emergence of home video gaming consoles, the creators of Stella have given a great present with which to relive these fond memories.

Here I provide builds of Stella for IT OS2007 and OS2008. I do not provide any actual game ROMS. Simply click on the appropriate link to install via application manager, then select the menu location. You will probably want to also configure buttons to your preference in Options-Input. Select an action and then 'Map' and then press the button of your choice.
